Job Description Job Description Field Ironworkers / Steel Erectors (Mandatory drug screening upon hire) Wages Start at $19 dollars per hour depending on experience. Steel erectors must follow appropriate safety guidelines to create, install, place, align, and reinforce steel structures and frameworks. Steel Erectors may be asked to work as a leader or part of a team to complete projects. This position requires the operation of an all-terrain forklift. Daily Tasks/Responsibilities - Prep tools and equipment needed at each job site and travel to the job site with tools needed to complete daily tasks - Review technical plans (blueprints) drawn by architects, engineers, and steel detailers for specific projects - Plan project assembly and work with management and the general superintendent - Cut and shape steel as needed (nearly all steel will be prefabricated for the job sites at the shop) - Operate hand and power tools: grinders, torches, welders, laser levels, and tape measures along with the required safety equipment Examples: Hard hats, High Visibility Vests, -Safety Glasses, Boots, Appropriate Clothing, Gloves, and Harnesses - Installing and affixing steel girders, joists, tubes, and beams to the steel framework along with installing any architectural and miscellaneous steel. - Using elevated work platforms, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and ladders to access the steel structures safely and efficiently - Laying Metal decking and shooting pins to secure it to the steel structure - Shooting studs and deformed bar anchors to steel components - Lifting and guiding components into position with cranes and other job site equipment - Lining up and leveling steelwork before bolting it in place - Working on-site, often at height. - Equipment Inspections - Preventing damage to property, buildings, and equipment - Help with loading and unloading trucks with inventory when necessary - Follow safety and operating procedures carefully - Other duties may be required and will be assigned by the Project Manager - Using basic computer skills for tracking and reviewing drawings - Use a tablet to access the appropriate information needed to perform job-specific activities Skills/Abilities Needed to Perform Work - 1 Year of fabrication iron working experience is (preferred) - Have welding knowledge of AWS D1.1 and be able to certified in SMAW 3G & 4G - Read a tape measure down to a 1/16th of an inch - Read and understand design and shop drawings aka blue prints - General knowledge of: Grinders, Wire Wheels, Steel Band Saws, Squares, Plasma Cutters - Basic Computer knowledge to enter data in Excel and Google Sheets Soft Skills Needed to Perform Work - Enjoyment in being outdoors (This position will require working outdoors frequently) - Desire to build long-term work relationships - Willingness to work over 40 hours a week if needed to meet schedules - Adaptability within the workplace - Ability to learn quickly - Good clear communication - Attention to detail and quality - Having a positive mental attitude within the workplace - Good attendance and punctuality - Stay Productive and on task - Ability to complete tasks by required deadlines - Willingness to offer help where needed Equipment / PPE required to start - 35’ standard Tape Measure - Jeans or Durable Pants (No shorts during work hours) - Appropriate clothing is required to withstand the elements and weather conditions when working outdoors - Steel toe or composite toe work boots Job Type: Full-time: - 10 hour shift - 12 hour shift Weekly day range: - Monday to Friday - Weekend availability is a plus Work setting: - Construction site - Welding & fabrication shop - Outdoor work Education: - High school or equivalent (Preferred) Experience: - Welding: 1 year (Preferred) License - Driver's License (Preferred) 1688CC PandoLogic.
